Why WashingtonCannabis.org Exists
Washington was one of the first two states to legalize recreational cannabis when voters passed Initiative 502 in November 2012. The state's legal market is regulated by the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB), and its medical program is administered by the Department of Health (DOH). But finding reliable, comprehensive, and non-commercial information about Washington cannabis law, the medical program, dispensaries, and community resources in one place has never been easy.
WashingtonCannabis.org fills that gap. We're a free educational resource that brings together everything you need to know about cannabis in Washington — from current laws and possession limits to dispensary locations, visitor guides, and patient resources.
What We Cover
WashingtonCannabis.org provides comprehensive guides across every aspect of cannabis in Washington:
- Washington cannabis laws — recreational rules, the medical program, possession limits, home cultivation (medical only), DUI rules, penalties, and visitor information
- Dispensary directory — licensed cannabis retailers searchable by city across Washington State
- Visitor guides — what out-of-state visitors need to know about purchasing and consuming cannabis in Washington
- Patient resources — the medical program, authorization vs. recognition card, qualifying conditions, tax savings, and the new MCR system
- Community — advocacy organizations, trade associations, and social equity resources
